Competition cases

In the competition field, in order to make the most efficient use of available resources, ESA will normally give priority to individual cases which are of particular significance to the proper functioning of the EEA Agreement. That may include cases where anti-competitive behaviour appears manifest, cases which raise a new point of law and cases concerning the possibilities for firms from other EEA States to access relevant markets in the EFTA States.

Competition: ESA discontinues e-payments competition investigation in Norway

ESA has decided to discontinue an investigation regarding suspected breaches of the competition rules in the EEA Agreement. ESA took this closure decision after careful assessment of the relevant circumstances of the case.

ESA sends a Statement of Objections to Widerøe

On 2 May 2018, the EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) adopted a Statement of Objections informing Widerøe's Flyveselskap AS (Widerøe) of its preliminary conclusion that Widerøe may have abused a dominant position in Norway in breach of the EEA competition rules.

On 20 December 2016, ESA closed an investigation of the ferry company Color Line and the municipality of Sandefjord in Norway. The parties have ended practices alleged to be in breach of EEA competition rules.
