Competition cases

In the competition field, in order to make the most efficient use of available resources, the Authority will normally give priority to individual cases which are of particular significance to the proper functioning of the EEA Agreement. That may include cases where anti-competitive behaviour appears manifest, cases which raise a new point of law and cases concerning the possibilities for firms from other EEA States to access relevant markets in the EFTA States.

Competition: ESA investigates DNB, Nordea, Finance Norway and BankID

On 26 October 2016 ESA opened proceedings against DNB, Nordea, Finance Norway and BankID for suspected breaches of the competition rules in the EEA Agreement. Bits, a related organisation to Finance Norway, will also be investigated.

ESA opens proceedings against Widerøe

In June 2016 the Authority opened formal antitrust proceedings against Widerøe's Flyveselskap AS to investigate whether it may have infringed the EEA competition rules.

ESA closes Color Line and Sandefjord investigation

Ferry

 

On 20 December 2016, ESA closed an investigation of the ferry company Color Line and the municipality of Sandefjord in Norway. The parties have ended practices alleged to be in breach of EEA competition rules.

Telenor Investigation

On 1 February 2016 the Authority sent a Statement of Objections to Telenor Norge AS and Telenor ASA.  The Statement of Objections sets out the Authority's preliminary view that Telenor has infringed Article 54 of the EEA Agreement.
