The Environment

The EEA Agreement has, amongst its objectives:

• the preservation, protection and improvement of the quality of the environment
• the prudent and rational utilisation of natural resources, on the basis of the principle of sustainable development
• the protection of human health

By laying down rules on environmental protection to further those objectives, the EEA Agreement also ensures a level-playing field for undertakings across the 30 EEA States.
