Professional Qualifications
Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications allows for an automatic recognition of professional qualifications for doctors, nurses (general care), dentists, veterinary surgeons, midwives, pharmacists and architects throughout Europe. This automatic recognition is based on a minimum harmonisation of education for the respective professions. It also entails an obligation on the EFTA States to notify the Authority of the legislative, regulatory and administrative provisions with regard to proof of formal qualifications for the seven professions which benefit from the automatic recognition scheme.
