Food Safety: ESA publishes updated Country Profile for Iceland
EN | IS
The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) has issued an updated Country Profile for Iceland, following a general review mission in Iceland in September 2016.
Iceland has implemented corrective measures for the majority of recommendations issued by ESA in recent years. Icelandic authorities shall follow up on recommendations still not satisfactorily addressed and work closely with ESA to address outstanding issues.
The updated Country Profile presents an overview of the
current Icelandic control systems related to food and feed safety and animal health
and the current status of progress made by Iceland in implementation of
corrective actions related to recommendations issued by ESA.
Today's update of the Country Profile
for Iceland is presented in two separate documents, both to increase transparency
and facilitate future information update:
Part 1 describes the organisation of the Icelandic authorities and their control systems covering the whole chain of animal feed and food production.
2 contains an
overview of missions carried out by ESA in Iceland since June 2010, detailing
status for corrective actions regarding recommendations that were addressed during
the recent general review mission.
ESA works to assure that effective and efficient official control systems, related to food and feed safety, animal health and welfare, are in place in Iceland and in Norway. An updated Country Profile for Norway will follow soon based on a general review mission to Norway in November 2016.
