PR(09)88: Reasoned opinion sent to Liechtenstein for failure to implement the Directive on equal treatment of men and women in matters of employment

9.12.2009

The EFTA Surveillance Authority has decided to send a reasoned opinion to Liechtenstein over its failure to implement the Equal Treatment Directive (Directive 2006/54/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 5 July 2006 on the implementation of the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment of men and women in matters of employment and occupation (recast)).

Liechtenstein should have implemented the Directive by 1 February 2009.

The purpose of the reasoned opinion is to give Liechtenstein a last chance to take corrective measures before the Authority decides whether to bring the matter before the EFTA Court. Liechtenstein has been given two months to take the measures necessary to comply with the reasoned opinion.
