Labor law: Iceland fails to implement EEA law on protection of workers

The EFTA Surveillance Authority has decided to send a reasoned opinion, a final warning, to Iceland over its failure to notify the Authority of national provisions implementing a Directive[1] which aims to provide workers with protection against artificial optical radiation to eyes and skin.

Iceland should have implemented the Directive by 27 April 2010.

The purpose of the reasoned opinion is to give Iceland a last chance to take corrective measures before the Authority decides whether to bring the matter before the EFTA Court. Iceland has been given two months to take the measures necessary to comply with the reasoned opinion.
