Late implementation: Final warnings given to Norway and Iceland

Today, the Authority delivered reasoned opinions to Norway and Iceland concerning the late implementation of four directives.

Iceland:

  • Directive 2008/47/EC on aerosol dispensers.
    Implementation deadline: 21 May 2011
  • Directive 2006/118/EC on the protection of groundwater against pollution and deterioration.
    Implementation deadline: 1 July 2011

Norway:

  • Directive 2008/105/EC on environmental quality standards in the field of water policy.
    Implementation deadline: 21 May 2011
  • Directive 2009/90/EC on technical specifications for chemical analysis and monitoring of water status.
    Implementation deadline: 21 May 2011

The reasoned opinions constitute a final warning to Iceland and Norway. The Authority can bring the matter before the EFTA Court if the States fail to comply with the reasoned opinion within two months.
