Late incorporation: Final warnings given to Norway and Iceland

27.6.2012

PR(12)35

Today, the Authority delivered three reasoned opinions to Norway and one to Iceland concerning their failure to make the following regulation part of its internal legal order:

Norway:

  • Regulation (EC) No 304/2009 (treatment of waste containing persistent organic pollutants in thermal and metallurgical production processes)
    Incorporation deadline: 12 June 2010
  • Regulation (EC) No 143/2011 (registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals)
    Incorporation deadline: 1 November 2011
  • Regulation (EC) No 253/2011 (registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals)
    Incorporation deadline: 3 December 2011

Iceland:

  • Regulation (EC) No 745/2004 on imports of products of animal origin for personal consumption.
    Incorporation deadline: 1 November 2011

A reasoned opinion is the second stage of the infringement procedure. The Authority can bring the matter before the EFTA Court if the State fails to comply with the reasoned opinion within two months.
