Late implementation: Final warnings given to Iceland and Norway

Today, the Authority delivered three reasoned opinions to Iceland and two reasoned opinions to Norway concerning the late implementation of the following directives:

Iceland:

Norway:

  • Directive 2006/66/EC on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators (repealing Directive 91/157/EEC)
    Implementation deadline: 1 November 2010
  • Directive 2008/103/EC on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators as regards placing batteries and accumulators on the market
    Implementation deadline: 1 November 2010

A reasoned opinion is the second stage of the infringement procedure. The Authority can bring the matter before the EFTA Court if the State fails to comply with the reasoned opinion within two months.
