Late implementation: Final warnings given to Iceland

11.7.2012

PR(12)46

Today, the Authority delivered two reasoned opinions to Iceland concerning the late implementation of the following directives:

  • Directive 2010/36/EU on safety rules and standards for passenger ships.
    Implementation deadline: 3 December 2011.

  • Directive 2008/122/EC on consumer protection regarding timeshare, long term holiday product, resale and exchange contracts.
    Implementation deadline: 1 November 2011 .

A reasoned opinion is the second stage of the infringement procedure. The Authority can bring the matter before the EFTA Court if the State fails to comply with the reasoned opinion within two months.
