Complaint cases on posted workers in Norway closed

ESA: New Norwegian rules concerning compensation for travel, board and lodging for posted workers align with EEA law.

The EFTA Surveillance Authority, ESA, has today closed two complaint cases on rules related to workers posted by their employers from other EEA States to work in Norway for a temporary period.

The Tariff Board in Norway decided on 11 October to change the rules in several collective agreements on compensation for travel, board and lodging so that they will conform with forthcoming EU/EEA rules in the area.

“This decision ensures that when workers posted from another EEA State are required to travel within Norway, they have the same rights as Norwegian workers”, says ESA-president Bente Angell-Hansen.

ESA looked into the matter after receiving two complaints concerning Norwegian rules on compensation for travel, board and lodging of posted workers in the maritime construction industry, for construction sites and for cleaning enterprises.
