PR(99)25: EFTA Surveillance Authority adopts new guidelines on aid for rescuing and restructuring firms in difficulty

The EFTA Surveillance Authority has adopted new guidelines on aid for rescuing and restructuring firms in difficulty, corresponding to similar guidelines previously adopted by the European Commission. (A new Chapter 16 of the State Aid Guidelines, corresponding to the “Community Guidelines on State Aid for rescuing and restructuring firms in difficulty”, published in OJ No C 288, 09.10.99.)   

Existing rescue and restructuring aid schemes in the EFTA States must be adapted to be in conformity with the new guidelines and the EFTA States are requested to undertake specific notifications of aid measures.

The new guidelines will enter into force on the date of their publication in the Official Journal of the European Communities and in the EEA Supplement thereto. Until that date the present guidelines will continue to apply.
