PR(00)05: EFTA Surveillance Authority clears state aid to a Norwegian company leasing electrically powered cars

The EFTA Surveillance Authority on 15 March 2000 decided not to raise objections to State aid granted to “Miljøbil Grenland AS”, a company leasing electrically powered cars in Norway and owned jointly by public and private Norwegian interests and Electricité de France (EDF).

The aid, amounting to NOK 1.850.000 (approx. Euro 230.000) and supplemented by a grant from EDF, is meant to cover Miljøbil Grenland AS’ extra costs of introducing electrically powered cars on the market compared to the costs of introducing regular cars.

The aid has been found to comply with the Authority’s guidelines on State aid for environmental protection corresponding to similar guidelines issued by the European Commission.
