State aid: Investment aid to Notodden Airport approved

Today, the Authority approved a grant of NOK 9.485 million from the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications for several investments in infrastructure at Notodden Airport, Tuven.

The Authority has found that the investments were in conformity with the requirements of the State Aid Guidelines on financing of airports and start-up aid to airlines departing from regional airports. The main objective of the investments is to make sure that the airport complies with safety requirements imposed by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority.

The Authority therefore considers that the investmens are necessary and proportionate to the objective of continuing operation of the airport and that the airport has satisfactory medium-term prospects for use. Furthermore, any airline or aircraft owner or operator which may potentially use the infrastructure will have access to it in equal and non-discriminatory manner. Finally, in the Authority's view, trade will not be affected to an extent contrary to the functioning of the EEA Agreement given its volume of traffic.
