State aid: Greenlights 6 months prolongation of regional aid schemes

Today, the EFTA Surveillance Authority approved a 6 month prolongation of the scheme for regionally differentiated social security contributions and three other Norwegian regional aid schemes.

No changes have been made to the schemes apart from the extension of the duration.

The decision applies to the following four Norwegian regional aid schemes:

  1. Scheme for regionally differentiated social security contributions
  2. Scheme for the application of the depreciation rules of the petroleum tax act at LNG facilities
  3. Regional transport aid scheme
  4. Regional risk-loan scheme

In a separate decision of today, the Authority also approved the prolongation of the Norwegian regional aid map.

These decisions follow the Authority's decision in October to extend the duration of the Guidelines on national regional aid for 2007–2013 for 6 months, until the entry into force on 1 July 2014 of the new guidelines on regional aid 2014–2020.

The EFTA Surveillance Authority's assessment of aid schemes for the period from July 2014 until the end of 2020 will start as soon as the Norwegian authorities have notified their proposed schemes for that period.
