PR(09)43: The Authority approves amendment to the Icelandic support scheme for film making

The EFTA Surveillance Authority has today approved an amendment to the Icelandic support scheme relating to temporary reimbursement in respect of film making. The scheme lays down a mechanism for support of film production in Iceland whereby a share of production costs may be reimbursed to the producer.

In April 2009, the Icelandic authorities notified an amendment to the already approved scheme on reimbursement of production costs. The notified change consists in an increase of the share of reimbursable production costs from 14 to 20 %.

The Authority has taken the view that the amendment is compatible with the functioning of the EEA Agreement as it complies with the conditions set out in its Guidelines on state aid to cinematographic and other audiovisual works.
