PR(09)35: The Authority approves public investment in infrastructure at Skien-Geiteryggen Airport

Today, the Authority approved several investments in infrastructure at Skien-Geiteryggen Airport.

The Authority has found that the investments were in conformity with the requirements of the State Aid Guidelines on financing of airports and start-up aid to airlines departing from regional airports. The main objective of the investments is to make sure that the airport complies with safety requirements imposed by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority. The Authority therefore considers that the investmens are necessary and proportionate to the objective of continuing operation of the airport. Furthermore, any airline which may potentially use the infrastructure will have access to it in equal and non-discriminatory manner. Finally, in the Authority's view, trade will not be affected to an extent contrary to the functioning of the EEA Agreement given its volume of traffic.

The Decision will be published in the register of state aid decisions at the Authority's website.
