PR(09)32: The Authority has approved new Norwegian schemes for audiovisual productions and development of screenplays and educational measures
The Norwegian authorities notified two schemes: one concerning audiovisual productions and one scheme for the development of screenplays and educational measures.
The scheme concerning audiovisual productions entails thirteen different types of support measures such as support for the production of cinema films, short films, documentaries, television series and support for the promotion and distribution of cinema films. Most of the measures correspond to previously applicable measures.
The scheme for the development of screenplays and educational measures is aimed at individual workers at the early stages of a film project development and education of film workers.
Measures relating to the actual production of cultural products have been assessed under the Authority’s Guidelines relating to state aid to cinematographic and audiovisual works. Other measures such as those relating to the promotion and distribution of cinema films have been assessed with reference to Article 61(3)(c) of the EEA Agreement. The Authority has come to the conclusion that the schemes are compatible with the functioning of the EEA Agreement.
